TerraQuest use StaySafe to protect planning officers when working alone

TerraQuest is an organisation based in Birmingham who provide data and technology services for public and private sectors. The company employs planning officers who periodically visit different locations, view sites, meet with agents and the public.

With employees frequently working away from the office, managers were keen to introduce a lone worker solution to help keep their staff safe when working alone. If an employee was confronted by a member of the public or felt threatened, managers wanted a quick and effective way for them to signal for help. The company initially relied on traditional safety precautions. This involved staff manually communicating with managers to inform them where they were going during the day and letting them know when each job had ended.

However managers became aware that this method relied on staff remembering to call every so often and didn’t offer them much insight on their employees whereabouts throughout the day.

TerraQuest began searching for a suitable lone worker solution that could offer their staff another level of protection. After coming across StaySafe they realised that the app was a great fit for them. Staff can now start a timed session before a period of lone work or travel and check-in at any time to confirm their safety. If an employee fails to end their session safely, a session expiry alert will be sent to the monitor.

StaySafe’s lone worker app also integrates with a discreet wearable button that can be worn on clothing such as a belt, lanyard, watch or bra strap. By simply connecting the button to their smartphone device via Bluetooth, the employee can click or hold the button to continue checking in or send their employer a panic alert. It also works as a man down alert, automatically triggering a signal if it detects a fall.

Geoff Evans, Head of delivery comments, “our staff have been using StaySafe for the last 18 months and we’re really happy with how well it fits into our company. The hub allows you to tailor how alerts are sent and who receives them which is great for emergencies. Teresa was helpful with getting us set up and making sure all our questions were answered. Our staff now feel much safer visiting different sites knowing they have the extra protection.”
